More from the Geranium book

Good Morning class Posted by Hello

'Good morning class
Today I will prepare you for the future.
Listen carefully,
and don't interupt!
Any questions?
None?
Good!
'

Today it is not questioning the teacher that is vital, it is having the courage to ask and answer your own questions. Who asks the most questions in your classroom? No prizes for the answer!

Poem 'message' sounds familiar!

Why and when do students stop asking questions?

It starts early. Children soon learn that the teachers questions are more important than theirs. It need not happen at all if students questions and answers were made a priority and the teachers role was seen as one of challenging misconceptions and extending understanding.

Reflect on the endless skeptical question asking of a two year old.
When you lose the art of questioning learning goes with it.
