First blog for ages

Kia Ora - greetings everyone

A few years back my old computer got a virus and in the process of transferring files to my new computer I lost access to the ability to add new blogs although I must admit I'd lost a bit of interest continuing.

Today I've found a way to continue which I might, or might not do. What I can do is now check on the data of people who have visited my blog which is fun.

Over 1500 blogs have been written since I began and total visitors now:

2363176

This month: 17377

Last month: 43463

I've found this both suprising and encouraging.

Maybe I'll write some new blogs. At the moment I'm not sure how to add graphics.

Ka kite ano - until next time

Hi Bruce,

I have been dipping into your blog for what seems like years (and it is). I have been a teacher for 17 years and I feel I must have come across your blog way back when I started out.

Do keep posting. Your blog influenced my old school in a fundamental way, back in the mists of time before Covid. We restructured our curriculum so that we became a creative school and those conversations began with me sharing your blog with my headteacher, who was of a similar mindset.

Our experiences were amazing and the impact of the work we did in our rural primary school was profound. Children from very challenging socio-economic backgrounds with very low aspiration started to excel and engage in school. Relationships with staff improved and behaviour went from dreadful to outstanding in less than a year.

I came across your blog again today and I realised that creativity is what is missing from our curriculum in my current school. I think I may have my work cut out for me since I am the only one in the school who has ever experienced the risk taking that comes from putting creativity first. However, if one rolls one's sleeves up, much can be achieved.

Keep posting. It's important to fight the trend of Gradgrindian education. Human intellect is more than a just a collection of facts.
